Summary: I will split my feedback in two parts, one pertaining to the property and the other, to the overall service provided by Winterpark Escapes before and during our stay. The property was lovely and well-appointed. The kitchen was super nice and well-equipped, and had all possible utensils, pots, pans, boards, etc. The outdoor grill was a nice addition as cooking inside often triggered the fire alarm. The garage was a big plus due to the very cold week we had and we loved the entry/mud room for ski boots, shoes, helmets, jackets, etc. We were two families (total of 10) and size-wise the place was a bit tight. The living/dining/kitchen space was small and only 6 people could sit at the dining table so we had to rotate eating. The kids room is definitely small for 6 kids, although there are 6 beds. With being outside to ski all day long, we made it work thanks to the 3.5 baths. One big challenge was taking showers though – only 3 people could take a very quick one before we ran out of hot water. The issue did not get addressed till our 3rd day and even after someone came, we still could not all shower, let alone use the tube. We loved the big windows and the light. The property is in a new construction area and far from the ski shuttle stop, which we hoped to use to avoid the hassle with driving and parking at the mountain. We were less happy with the management company. Starting with the booking, the property showed many pictures including waterslides, hot tubs, etc. leading us to believe an access to a rec center was included. A chat agent confirmed that hot tub was included and even the title of this review claims that in the left corner “Room Type Hot Tub Rendezvous Luxury Chalet #110” (not sure if seen by the reader). We had that and other questions and after getting conflicting info from the chat agents, I got a call from Daniel Devore, the manager of customer care, who was quite condescending. He discounted that I had traveled extensively and had skied at Winter Park for 10 years and pretty much argued with me and at the end suggested I cancel my reservation. The contract sounded so harsh that upon our very late arrival, we spent a lot of time inspecting and taking pictures. We found only 6 towels (for 10 people) and missing sheets. The hot water issue did not get addressed till day 3. I got a message from someone, after I emailed and called twice, and upon calling back that number, I was informed that I was calling a private number and should call the office. Got several automated emails but never a response or status on my request. Got an email that the property had availability and we can add days and then a message that late checkouts are not allowed during March. Just the rule to request a check out on the day of departure sounds absurd – who would wait with flights and other plans to call the office at 8 am before a 10 am checkout! Sorry for this very long write up – hopefully it will provide a mechanism for a positive change.
